The SA in our company’s
name means South America. I named our company South Star SA for several reasons: 1) I
believe that stars are lucky. 2) If you have ever been so fortunate as to have seen the
night sky while hiking on an old Incan trail on the way to Machu Picchu….you
wouldn’t have to ask.
I started South Star SA, with a multitude of wishes
and wants. I wanted to go into a business that I would love and earn money. (Yes, I am a
capitalist.) I wanted to educate people about Peru and South America.
I have traveled extensively and I believe that the more a person knows about
another culture and country the closer we are to understanding that we are all just human
beings on the face of this wonderful planet. I wish to help the South Americans
economically in a small way. Currently, Peru and most of the other countries in South
America are rated third world countries. By buying from the local craft people, we
encourage free enterprise, self reliance, and cultural pride. I wanted a way to continue
to learn about and pass on that learning to others about the culture, history, art and
