Chullos are handcrafted from Peru. The earth tone colored chullos are made of 100% alpaca wool. The brightly colored chullos are made of 100% acrylic yarn. These are the hats that llama and alpaca herders in the Peruvian Andes wear to keep their heads warm some 11,200 to 12,800 feet high! These hats are excellent insulators for snowboarders, skiers and general cold weather gear. They can be worn under helmets and caps. One size fits all!

Mochilitas $20

Mochilitas are tiny versions of the Mochilas Grandes. These are very popular items here in  the United States and in South America. They are 4.5" wide by 3.5" deep at the base of the bag, the width is 8" in the middle of the bag and it is 8" in height. It sports a 4" by 3.5" zippered pouch on the front for carrying small items such as keys and coins. These are made of 100% cotton/acrylic mix. A safety snap secures contents and provides easy access. Its textile design is derived from historical Peruvian Indian weavings.

Bolsitas $10

Bolsitas are all purpose pouchs. They are  made of 100% cotton/acrylic mix. These are made from traditional Peruvian Indian textile patterns. They come in enough variety of colors to suit anyone tastes. They measure  approximately 6.5" wide by 9" in height. A 24" knitted yarn strap easily supports 10+lbs (although why anyone would carry that much with this pouch is a mystery to me). Decorative tassels finish the appearance.

Animal Necklaces (Fetishes): Fetishes have been used for many centuries through out the world. The meaning of the different fetishes have  meant different  things to people over time. Fetishes have been worn to protect and give certain animal strengths to their wearers. Our Peruvian fetishes do not have such deep significance. Many of our fetishes have come about as a result of folktales and myths, often from such far away countries as China, Australia, Africa, Greece, Japan, etc. By clicking on the animal name you can read a folktale or myth about that particular animal. Please enjoy the stories as I had fun writing them. Many of them are of stories I heard as a child.

Koalas: Come from Australia. They live on trees. They eat only eucalyptus shoots and leaves, which also provide them with their water needs.

Cats: The most common feline in the world. They come in many different  sizes and types. Kittens are usually born in the spring. They  are very cute and children enjoy them immensely.

Ducks: They are called "Green Teals" in South America. They like warm water, shallow ponds, lakes and streams. Some of these ducks you can see in the USA but as soon as it gets cold they have no problem traveling 7000 miles to get back to South America!

Pandas: Are extremely rare. They come from China, Nepal or Western Burma. Their main food is bamboo.

Elephants: Come from Africa and Asia. They are the largest living land mammals. The pregnancy of an elephant can last almost two years.

Frogs: These amphibians are found throughout the world except for the Antarctica. Most frogs live in or near fresh water. Some live on land, on trees, or underground. Some eat insects; some eat worms, and some even eat small rodents!

Dogs: Have migrated throughout the world. They are thought to be the first domesticated animal because of their intelligence and sociable nature. Many different breeds exist throughout the world because of the different interests of dog breeders.

Owls: During the time that the Incas ruled the owls were revered as an animal of wisdom. The Incas called them Huacos and treated them with much respect. Owls are very beautiful animals. They sleep during the day and during the night they hunt.

Parrots: Come from tropical and subtropical forests throughout the world. They can live for a very long time and can mimic human speech.

Alligators: Are found in the United States and in China. Their name comes from the Spanish word "el largato" which means lizard. They are very good mothers despite their fierce appearance and care for their young up to two years.
